Individual Therapy
ADHD Therapy
Individual therapy is a place to gain insights, skills and resolution to whatever may be going on in your life. Sometimes it feels like there are too many obstacles to reach your goal. In many ways, therapy is like climbing a mountain, making progress one step at a time and sometimes having to go back down to find a better path. Therapy is important for ADHD clients that might be struggling with a lot of other challenges that frequently occur with unsupported ADHD, like anxiety, CPTSD, depression, etc. Anita can work along side other therapists to provide the ADHD support needed.
Common adult ADHD themes include:
Anxiety: Used to get tasks done
Shame: Feeling different or wrong because of harmful messages heard as a kid
Executive Functioning Challenges: Feeling scattered and overwhelmed when doing the daily tasks
Trauma Responses: Unsupported ADHD has a higher rate of relational trauma experiences that can impact relationships in adulthood.
Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD): An intense response to perceived or real criticism or rejection.
I use a variety of therapeutic techniques depending on the needs of each individual. These include:
Attachment based therapy
ADHD-affirming therapy
Trauma informed therapy
Family Systems
Executive Functioning Coaching
